Profile Section

This is where all your main information is stored, some of which is shown on your profile (it’s clearly shows which items aren’t publically visible).  It’s great to fill out as much of this information as you as will give others a bit more information about you.

You can also use this section to change your password, name etc.

This is where you write a profile about yourself.  This may be the first time that you have written a profile about yourself. Using our long experience, we have put together the following list of points that will improve your chances of attracting responses.  It should reflect the sort of person you really are and reach out to others who will be attracted by your special qualities. The list is for guidance only.

  • Try to restrict your profile to between 100 and 200 words. With so many profiles to read, people who are browsing may tend to skip longer ones. Apart from the size of the profile field, there is no restriction on the number of words you can use.
  • Give a few personal features - hair and eye colour, for example. We will automatically add your chosen name, your height and the general area where you live.
  • You should mention your personal interests and hobbies. Perhaps you are a vegetarian, for instance, or practise meditation or enjoy walking.
  • Give an indication of your likes and dislikes, but don't be negative or exclusive.
  • Be truthful, but try to be creative so that your profile catches the eye.
  • Don't try to give your life story. Leave that till you make contact with someone who wants to hear it!
  • Don't include any personal details that will enable you to be identified or contacted directly, such as your telephone number or personal e-mail address. Only divulge these details when you feel confident about doing so. If you do include emails, URLs or phone numbers we will ask you to remove them or remove them for you.

If you are a free member you can upload up to 4 photos which will then be displayed on your profile.  Please read the specifications carefully before you upload.  Full members can upload up to 8 photos and these can be used for the message board and/or gallery.

You can order your photos by clicking and dragging them to a new location, the top photo will be your profile picture.

If any photos are deemed as inappropriate they will be removed from your profile.

It’s probably best if you resize your photos prior to uploading them as if they have been taken on a modern camera they are probably very large in file size.

If you have a ‘Windows’ computer you can go to your start menu (bottom left) and type ‘paint’ in the search bar, when the paint program is shown click on it to open it.  Then go to file icon (the little icon to the left of the ‘home’ button > click open > find the photo that you want to use on your computer and press open.

Once you see the photo on screen press the ‘resize’ button and a new little window will appear called ‘Resize and Skew’, select the ‘Pixels’ check button and change the number in the ‘horizontal’ field to be around 1000.  If the number is less than 600 then you won’t be able to upload this photo.  Press ok.

Go back to the file icon (the little icon to the left of the ‘home’ button > click save as > and choose somewhere to save the file (you’ll need to remember where you put it so that you can then upload it to your profile) > press save.

You are now ready to upload your photo.

Safety

Internet Dating/Friendship can be as safe (if not safer!) than meeting people elsewhere (clubs, bars etc), if a few simple guidelines are followed. At Natural Friends you get to vet members before meeting them; this is something you can't do in a club!

Be careful what information you give out on the site. Do not give out personal details such as your full name, telephone number or email address until you have spent time chatting online, and feel completely comfortable with the other member.

Don't rush to meet members in real life. Get to know other members well before agreeing to meet them.

Consider arranging to talk on the phone before agreeing to meet up. Don't give your address to anyone you haven't already met in person and only then when you feel completely comfortable with them.

We would suggest if you do decide to meet someone, meet in a safe public place and tell a friend where you are going. Don't allow your emotions to get the better of you online. It's perfectly possible to become infatuated with someone and perhaps even feel that you are falling in love without ever having met a person. However you feel, take your time when you get around to meeting the person.

For more information on dating safely online, please read our Safety Tips and Privacy Policy.

While we do not actively screen members, a valid e-mail address is required in order to become a join the site. This means that, should any member of the site be found harassing other members, we will have a means of contacting them, and a link to their identity. Should it become necessary, we can also use the member’s ISP to help us trace them.

Needless to say, such people will be permanently suspended from membership on this site. However, our service is otherwise confidential, and there is no need to worry about your privacy as long as your behaviour does not negatively affect other members.

It is not possible to do extensive background checks on members, and as a result we cannot take responsibility for any negative consequences arising from your use of this site. Please use your common sense and be careful about giving out personal information to people you meet on this site.

Was this question useful?

We take our members safety very seriously and any member found to be conducting themselves in an inappropriate or offensive way on this site risks having their membership revoked.

When you view any members profile, below their details is a link - ‘Report inappropriate content/behaviour’, which when you click on will allow you to send us anonymously a message reporting a member for inappropriate behaviour or offensive content. You can of course email us at info@naturalfriends.co.uk with details of what the problem is if you would prefer.

You can also block a member so that they will no longer be able to send you messages or winks and you will not appear in any searches they perform. You can unblock a member at any time.

Technical Issues

The website is housed on a secure server and holds a current secure server certificate (the closed padlock should be visible at the top of the website screen – in front of the url/website address). You should also note that the URL has the prefix 'https'. Access is restricted to bona fide members (using a membership number and password), the proprietors and authorised personnel such as webmasters.

Whilst every effort is made to ensure that information is not accessed by unauthorised persons, there is a risk of that and that risk lies with the user. It is the responsibility of each member to keep all login details safe and secure and not to divulge them to other people. You may not authorise others to use your membership, and you may not assign or otherwise transfer your account to any other person or entity.

If you have reason to believe that your account is no longer secure, you must notify Natural Friends promptly at info@naturalfriends.co.uk so that your password can be changed.

Winks

First you’ll need to browse through the other members using the ‘member search’ , once you have found someone that you like the sound of you will see that underneath their profile pictures one of the options is to ‘wink’, if you click on this you will get a list of wink introductory sentences and icons to choose from.  Select which one you’d like to send and press ‘send wink’.

That’s it you’re done, hopefully you’ll receive a reply.

Was this question useful?

A wink is a piece of introductory text and an associated icon that you can send to other members (if you are a full member).

They are nice little ice breakers if you are not sure what to write in a message.

It works...see our testimonials

Dear Natural Friends

I met many (well about twelve) Natural Friends early on in my membership and soon entered into a relationship with one of them. We are shortly going to live together and I would be grageful if you will delete my entry from your records.

You may be interested to know that I also encouraged my ex-wife to join (we are still friends). She has found a new partner and is planning to get married next year through one of her contacts. In turn, her new fiance encouraged his ex-wife to join and she also had successful introductions. It all seems quite incestuous!

Yours sincerely,

John
